Material Handler Job Description

We are actively looking for a dedicated Material Handler at [Company X], to ensure the accurate management and distribution of materials and products that arrive at our warehouse. We appreciate candidates having strong attention to detail, excellent physical stamina and the ability to work efficiently in a hectic warehouse environment.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Ensure orderly production and distribution of products by pulling orders from inventory, delivering production materials and supplies, and staging finished products for final distribution.
• Contribute to the orderly operation of stock and materials storage areas by maintaining inventory accuracy.
• Maintain inventory by identifying, labeling, and keeping materials and supplies in stock, recording location of inventory, and reporting shortages.
• Locate materials and supplies by pulling and verifying items listed on production orders.
• Deliver and open materials and supplies to maintain in-process inventory at work centers.
• Prepare finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing products.
• Document material handling data and record units delivered and location of units.
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other machinery to move items or signal machine operators to move materials onto and off trucks, ships, and loading docks.
• Maintain material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections and making operator repairs.
• Adhere to workplace safety regulations and maintain a clean and orderly work environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Proven experience in material handling, warehouse operations, or similar roles.
• Proficiency with inventory management systems (preferably SAP) and MS Office applications.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Physical ability to lift heavy materials and stand or walk for long periods.
• Excellent communication and time-management skills.
• Forklift certification is a plus.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

• Experience in a cGMP/FDA regulated environment.
• Basic mathematical skills and understanding of inventory control.
• Knowledge of supply chain management and best practices.

Salary Range

• $14.33 - $23.01 per hour.
