Machine Operator Job Description

Overview: 

This position is responsible for operating a variety of machines and equipment in our manufacturing facility. The roles include but are not limited to Automation Operator, Bailing Operator, Labelling Operator, Knitting Operator, Lamination Operator, Applicator Operator, Slitting Operator, Wicketer Operator, Converting Operator, Ink Technician, and Print Press Assistant.

Key roles and responsibilities:

  • Operate various machines and equipment to manufacture products according to established procedures and quality standards
  • Monitor machines during operation to ensure that they are functioning correctly
  • Inspect finished products to ensure that they meet customer specifications and quality standards
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and make minor repairs as needed
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Follow all safety protocols and regulations
  • Participate in lean initiatives and identify opportunities for efficiencies
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Skills And Qualifications

Required skills:

  • Basic math and reading skills, acquired through the completion of a high school diploma OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 1-year experience in a manufacturing environment, operating machinery is preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform tasks accurately
  • Good communication skills and ability to follow directions
  • Ability to work a 12-hour rotating shift that varies by location 36/48 bi-weekly breakdown

Preferred skills:

  • Satisfactory performance and attendance in present job.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to drive a vehicle (manual shift in some assignments).
