Apploi and symplr Verify Clinicians Well. Neither Finds Them First.
Published on August 3rd, 2026
Apploi and symplr are established, credible credentialing platforms. Facilities use them to confirm a clinician's licence, run background checks and manage ongoing compliance monitoring, and both do that job well. Neither is built to solve the step before it: finding the clinician in the first place.
- Credentialing activates after a candidate is already in your process. That is not a design flaw. It is the job the category was built for. But it means every hour spent sourcing and screening a candidate happens before credentialing ever runs a check, so a licence problem discovered at that stage has already cost the recruiter time regardless of how good the credentialing tool is.
- The 2026 NSI Report puts the Recruitment Difficulty Index at 78 days for an experienced RN. Credentialing platforms do not touch most of that window, because most of it is spent trying to reach someone and determine whether they are worth pursuing, not confirming paperwork on someone already engaged.
- Verification-after and verification-before are not competing approaches. They are sequential. A tool that verifies before outreach reduces how many people ever reach the credentialing stage without being eligible. A tool that verifies during onboarding still catches genuine problems a pre-check might miss, such as a licence that lapsed between sourcing and offer.
Why this works
EasySource checks credentials against 90%+ of US state licence boards before a candidate is contacted at all, which addresses the sourcing-stage version of the problem. It is not a credentialing platform and does not claim to replace one. Payer enrolment, privileging, and ongoing licence monitoring throughout employment are the job of tools like Apploi and symplr, and we would recommend either to a facility asking us to do that job, because it is not ours to do.
Where each fits
| Stage | Tool built for it |
|---|---|
| Finding candidates who have not applied | EasySource - Sourcing platform with pre-outreach verification |
| Confirming licence status before first contact | EasySource |
| Formal credentialing, payer enrolment, privileging | Apploi, symplr |
| Ongoing licence monitoring during employment | Apploi, symplr |
| Background checks and compliance documentation | Apploi, symplr |
Most healthcare employers eventually need both categories. The question worth asking a sourcing vendor is not whether they replace credentialing. It is whether they reduce how many uncredentialed candidates reach that stage in the first place.
FAQ
Is EasySource a credentialing platform?
No. It verifies licence status against state boards before outreach, which reduces wasted recruiter time. Formal credentialing, payer enrolment and ongoing monitoring remain the job of dedicated platforms such as Apploi or symplr.
Why verify twice, once at sourcing and once at credentialing?
Because they catch different things. Pre-outreach verification filters obviously ineligible candidates before time is spent. Credentialing catches changes that happen later, such as a licence lapsing between first contact and start date.
