Hi Roy, thank you so much for doing this. Let's start by giving everyone an idea of your background and your decades of recruiting experience.

Roy

I cut my teeth in recruiting in 2012 at a "big box" firm, Cyber Coders. It was a masterclass in how a high-volume agency operates when backed by a massive technology stack. It taught me that speed and data are the lifeblood of the industry. When I launched Craft Recruiting in 2019, my mission was to marry that big-box power with boutique, white-glove service. We didn't want to just participate in the market; we wanted to excel in it using automation. Within our first year, we built a proprietary database of well over a million resumes. Even as a small firm, our philosophy has always been to "out-tool" the giants by integrating the most sophisticated sourcing and screening vendors available.

Interviewer

That sounds really impressive. You were among our early adopters almost two years ago, leveraging AI in hiring. That is ahead of most recruiters, who only started thinking proactively last year. What did you have in mind when buying our subscription?

Roy

I've always hunted for the unfair advantage. Long before the AI hype cycle, even while employed at another firm, I was investing my own capital into tools that could out-search LinkedIn. My journey with HireQuotient actually started with a bit of a failed experiment. The original service-based model you offered didn't capture the nuances of my candidate needs, and it felt lost in translation. However, Smarth reached out and pivoted the conversation toward the product rather than the service, and everything clicked. I wasn't just looking for another data set; I was looking for a way to achieve hyper-personalized outreach at scale. I saw the potential for HireQuotient to do for messaging what the search engine did for data. You could say I had my "ChatGPT moment" two years before the rest of the world caught on.

Interviewer

That sounds lovely. You worked closely with our founder, Smarth. How has that experience been? Two years is a long time to build a read on a person; what is your read?

Roy

Smarth is a rare breed of founder who prioritizes outcomes over contract values. He took a disgruntled customer—me, with your service product—and turned me into a brand champion. He didn't do it through a sales pitch, but through radical accountability. My read on him is simple: he views my success as the only true metric of his own. Our relationship was never about avoiding a refund or securing a renewal; it was a shared mission to prove that this technology could move the needle for a specialized recruiting firm.

Interviewer

I'm really glad to hear that. You continue to use our platform and, from what I understand, you replaced some other platforms with us. What is your feedback about our platform and our place in this industry?

Roy

It is impossible to separate the tool from the team—the people who work at HireQuotient. The platform is powerful, but it is the intellectual partnership behind it that makes it indispensable. HireQuotient doesn't just provide software; they provide a competitive edge. By replacing legacy platforms with HireQuotient, I've streamlined my workflow into an intelligent ecosystem. It has made me faster, more precise, and frankly, better at my job.

Interviewer

We've spoken about how Smarth acted as a customer success manager for you in the early days while the product was still being built. Over the years, you both have built a relationship that goes beyond a typical client-vendor dynamic. Tell us more about that.

Roy

Smarth is genuinely invested in the evolution of Craft Recruiting. Because he stepped in personally during those early days, he saw my business iterate in real-time. He has acted as a sounding board on strategy and growth in ways that have nothing to do with a software subscription. That level of transparency and mentorship is what transforms a vendor into a true partner.

Interviewer

That sounds great. Those were all the questions I had, but I would love to hear any parting thoughts you have for recruiting leaders thinking about AI in hiring.

Roy

You cannot wish away progress. In 2012, recruiters with deep Rolodexes tried to ignore LinkedIn, thinking their personal networks were their competitive advantage. They were wrong. Those who embraced LinkedIn—the early adopters a decade ago—had a head start; today, it is simply the cost of entry. AI is currently at that same inflection point. If you are putting your head in the sand, you are not just falling behind; you are becoming obsolete. If your only AI strategy is using ChatGPT, you are still falling behind, just at a slower rate. You need to find partners who are building the future of the industry, not just reacting to it.

Interviewer

We also believe that leveraging AI in the right way is crucial right now. I loved chatting with you. Thank you so much for connecting.

Roy

Thank you. Goodbye.
