Job Description:
The Senior Process Engineer will play a crucial role in our high-performance team, focusing on the development of next-generation, high-volume manufacturing processes to cater to the growing energy storage market. This team member will identify process requirements for critical production steps and collaborate with internal and external machine design experts to discover, evaluate, and refine process concepts aligning with those specifications. The successful candidate will demonstrate a deep understanding of process fundamentals combined with an agile approach to see ideas through to successful production equipment. The Senior Process Engineer – Front End will have a proven track record of developing innovative processes for volume mass production and will thrive in our dynamic startup environment. Strong interpersonal skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to flourish in a fast-paced setting are essential. This position reports to the Manager, Advanced Process Development.

Qualifications:
Required Skills and Experience:
- 4-6 years of experience in a diverse range of manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of various coating technologies.
- Experience with continuous web manufacturing processes.
- Demonstrated ability and passion to comprehend processes and their interactions with materials and equipment, influencing product performance.
- Proven ability to design, optimize, and qualify processes based on data-driven decisions.
- Skill in generating data when necessary and converting art into science through quantitative analysis.
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment, capable of meeting aggressive timelines and delivering on commitments.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with team members, other departments, and external suppliers.
- Strong team player, willing to share knowledge and mentor others.
- Highly motivated and action-oriented with a track record of accomplishments.
- Coachable, receptive to management inputs and constructive criticism.
- Ability to independently lead projects and technical teams, driving concrete and timely results with minimal supervision.

- Willingness to travel domestically and overseas to manufacturing sites (up to 30%).

Desired Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience in the lithium-ion battery industry.
- Broad experience encompassing other processes like mixing, extrusion, formation, etc.
- Knowledge of various laminating technologies, including heat sealing, adhesive sealing, etc.
- Familiarity with slitting, die cutting, roll-to-roll processes, intermittent motion processes, and vacuum lamination.
- Experience with in-line continuous vision system inspection systems.
- Experience with beta gauge inspection systems.
- Proficiency in taking a process from lab scale to pilot scale and eventually to high volume manufacturing.

Responsibilities:
- Develop novel manufacturing processes contributing to the establishment of 24M’s high-volume production system.
- Conduct characterization and gain deep understanding of critical material performance in the processes through experimentation and analysis, leveraging this insight for process development.
- Perform equipment and process capability studies, implementing improvements based on data-driven results.
- Design and conduct simple feasibility studies to determine the direction of novel processes.
- Collaborate closely with equipment design engineers and external partners to successfully complete proof of concept.
- Integrate process control parameters into manufacturing.
- Collaborate with vendors and manufacturing partners to enhance product quality.
